Useful checks for working with web articles. These notes are an introduction, not a guarantee that every website follows the same structure.
Main text
Identify the article title, introduction and main paragraphs. Keep navigation, promotional modules and unrelated recommendations separate.
Article structure
Review heading order, lists, captions and quotations. Meaning can change when a paragraph loses the heading or caption that explains it.
Links and sources
Follow citations back to the original publication. Record the source URL and distinguish an article’s own reporting from external references.
Images in context
Read the caption and alternative text where available. Respect image rights and keep pictures with the context that explains them.
